How To Redeem Hilton Free Night Certificates

How do you know when you’ve received a free night certificate? You will get not 1 but 2 email notifications:

  • An email from American Express sent to your cardmember email address to let you know that your free night certificate is on the way.
  • An email from Hilton Honors sent to the email address on your Hilton account to let you know that your free night certificate has been deposited.

The first email will look something like this:

Annual Weekend Night Reward email Amex
The first email you receive is from American Express, and it simply specifies that your free night certificate is on its way. Image Credit: American Express

And the second email will look something like this:

Hilton free night certificate email
The second email you receive is from Hilton and contains your free night certificate number. Image Credit: Hilton

Your free night certificate will typically be awarded to you 8 to 14 weeks after your cardmember anniversary. In this example, the card anniversary was on January 8, and the free night certificate was deposited 76 days later on April 4, around 11 weeks.

Hot Tip:

The reason for the long lead times is to prevent cardmembers from getting the free night certificate and immediately closing the card to avoid the annual fee.

To redeem your free night certificate, you must call Hilton Honors customer service at 800-446-6677.

This free night certificate covers the room rate, taxes, and fees in almost all situations for standard room rewards.

Only 1 free night certificate is awarded, and the primary cardmember is the only person who gets it. That means all authorized users or employees do not get free night certificates.

Some properties are excluded, namely all-inclusive and vacation rental properties. Premium room rewards are also excluded.
