Access to American Express’ Centurion Lounges is one of the most favored perks of holding The Platinum Card® from American Express, so when a new opening is announced, it’s big news.

The newest addition is set to be constructed at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) — meaning each of New York’s 3 major airport hubs will feature a Centurion Lounge.

The Biggest Yet

At 17,000-square-foot, Newark’s Centurion Lounge will be the largest of all of its locations.

The planned space for the Centurion Lounge will feature as part of a new, 3-story building that will be constructed close to the new Terminal A, home to Air Canada, American, Delta, JetBlue, and United. The rest of the building is expected to be taken over by the Port Authority — the organization that gave permission for the lounge’s go-ahead in September 2021.

“The new Terminal A is the first step in a renaissance for Newark Liberty International Airport,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “The addition of the Centurion Lounge, with its stunning architecture, incredible amenities, and a celebration of New Jersey’s rich history throughout, will be a fitting capstone to an already world-class facility.”

What To Expect From Your New Centurion Lounge

For those who enjoy a spot of plane spotting, Newark’s Centurion Lounge is set to feature an outside terrace area with views over the airport’s airfield, the Port of Newark, both New York and Newark harbors, and, perhaps most exciting of all, the famous Manhattan skyline.

Back inside, guests can expect a choice of several of Amex’s most-loved eateries and bar areas to indulge in before hopping on their flight.

With plans for a piano lounge and jazz bar, Newark’s Centurion Lounge is set to have you wanting to arrive at the airport well in advance of your flight.

Classic lounge features such as dedicated areas for working and relaxing can also be expected. There will be a space for families with small children and premium restrooms and shower suites.

Final Thoughts

From what we can expect from Newark’s new Centurion Lounge, it will most certainly be worth the wait.
