Full List of American Airlines’ Flagship Lounges – Locations, Hours & More

American Airlines’ Flagship First and Business products are billed as AA’s creme de la creme. Boasting upscale in-air service, dining, amenity kits, and more — the marketing team goes so far as to tell customers they might even forget they’re flying. We don’t know about that, but the Flagship Lounges associated with the Flagship products are causing a bit of a stir!

With fairly positive reviews all around, it seems American is knocking it out of the park with its new lounge concepts.

In this guide, we outline where you can find each Flagship Lounge (including specific airport locations and hours), who can access them, and what makes them so special.

Current Flagship Lounge Locations

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)

Location: In the crosswalk between gates H6 and K6
Hours: Monday to Sunday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Flagship First Dining: No
Size: ~20,000 square feet

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)

Location: Terminal D, between gates D21 and D22
Hours: Daily from 5 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.
Flagship First Dining: Yes (daily, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
Size: ~24,500 square feet

John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York (JFK)

American Airlines has partnered with British Airways to offer 2 joint premium lounges to Flagship customers. These replace access to the previous Flagship Lounge at Terminal 8 Concourse B.

Chelsea Lounge

Location: Terminal 8, post-security, level 1, above gate 14
Hours: Daily from 4:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Guest Access: Must be traveling in Flagship First International, Flagship First Transcontinental, or Flagship Business Plus on a qualifying same-day flight marketed by a Oneworld airline or JetBlue and operated by American
Select Amenities: Waiter service, preflight dining, shower facilities, business center

Greenwich Lounge

Location: Terminal 8, post-security, level 1, above gate 12
Hours: Daily from 4:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Guest Access: Must be traveling in Flagship Business on a qualifying same-day international, transcontinental or qualifying Hawaii flight marketed and operated by American, a Oneworld airline, or marketed by JetBlue and operated by American
Select Amenities: Preflight dining, shower facilities, business center

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Location: Terminal 4, across from gate 40
Hours: Daily from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Flagship First Dining: Yes (temporarily closed)

What Makes a Flagship Lounge Special?

The Basics

Flagship Lounge is American Airlines’ most premium lounge tier, offered only in select cities.

These lounges are distinct from AA’s International First Class Lounges and Admirals Club lounges in that they offer AA’s highest-quality amenities, including:

Flagship First Dining

American Airlines markets its Flagship First Dining as “an exclusive fine-dining experience inside select Flagship Lounges — allowing you to eat before your flight and sleep sooner.”

This elevated dining experience includes regionally-inspired dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, as well as a selection of signature wines, craft beers and spirits, and hand-crafted cocktails.

Flagship First Dining is currently only offered at the DFW, LAX, and MIA locations.

American even proudly announced in October of 2018 that they were the first airline ever to enter a burger, The Flagship Burger, in the NYC Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Contest.

Hot Tip: It’s important to note that Flagship First Dining is only available to those customers flying on qualifying international or transcontinental flights, as well as Flagship Business Plus customers.

Lounge Access and Eligibility

Flyers can gain access to Flagship Lounges in a number of ways.

First and Business Class Customers on Qualifying International and Transcontinental Flights

Flyers traveling in first or business class on a qualifying international or transcontinental flight marketed and operated by American Airlines or a Oneworld airline are eligible to access the Flagship Lounge. Departing flights must be on the same day or before 6 a.m. the following day.

For an international flight to qualify you for access to the Flagship Lounge, it must depart the U.S. for one of these locations:

Guest Access: Those flying on qualifying international routes are allowed 1 guest free of charge.

To qualify for access to the Flagship Lounge for transcontinental flights, you must be flying nonstop from New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO).

Guest Access: Qualifying transcontinental flyers aren’t allowed any guests.

To qualify for access to the Flagship Lounge for domestic flights, you must be flying nonstop on one of these routes:

• Charlotte (CLT) to Honolulu (HNL)
• Chicago (ORD) to Honolulu (HNL)
• Dallas (DFW) to Honolulu (HNL)
• Dallas (DFW) to Kona (KOA)
• Dallas (DFW) to Kahului (OGG)

Guest Access: Qualifying domestic flyers aren’t allowed any guests.

AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, and Platinum Members on Qualifying Flights

Regardless of cabin class, these individuals can access Flagship Lounges as long as they’re booked on a qualifying flight (the same day or before 6 a.m. the following day).

International flight qualifiers:

Guest Access: Those flying on qualifying international routes are allowed 1 guest free of charge.

ConciergeKey

Regardless of cabin class, ConciergeKey status members can access Flagship Lounges when traveling (the same day) on any flight marketed and operated by American or a Oneworld airline.

Guest Access: ConciergeKey members are allowed to bring all immediate family (spouse, domestic partner, and children under 18) or up to 2 guests into the lounge free of charge.

Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire Status Members

Regardless of cabin class, Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire status holders can access Flagship Lounges when they’re departing on or connecting to any flight marketed and operated by American or a Oneworld airline.

Guest Access: Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members are allowed 1 guest free of charge.

Paying Guests

If you’re keen on experiencing the Flagship Lounge, American has begun selling day passes to its Flagship Lounges. They aren’t cheap, however — a single visit pass costs $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles per person, though children under 2 are included free.

Final Thoughts

American’s Flagship Lounges are certainly an elevated option from what most other domestic carriers are putting out there.

Their size alone allows you some room to spread out without feeling too cramped (a complaint of many American Express Centurion Lounges nowadays) and the shower suites give flyers a great way to freshen up.
